Honda CR-Z SPORTS CAR

Tuesday, October 20, 2009

CR-Z stands for “Compact Renaissance Zero”, and is a standard hybrid with very clean emissions. No word on the exact MPG, and I was initially skeptical as to whether it will actually make it to production, or go the way of most concept cars and never see time on a dealer lot.

New BMW M-Zero

Monday, October 19, 2009

BMW M-Zero is a concept inspired by car from BMW M Series, which is also believed, Mercedes-Benz (as backlighting) and Aston Martin DB9 (the overall silhouette is inspired by the DB9). Maël Oberkampf, the designer of M-Zero tent indeed, a model that could be considered the equivalent of the Audi R8. And the result is M-Zero, a car, the concept of “synthesis” between the actual design of BMW and a great power of a car, which could become the most powerful model of the BMW heritage. The exterior is good, very style BMW, but we hope to find in interior architecture, we bet, it is futuristic.

The Porsche Carrera GT

Thursday, October 8, 2009

When Porsche release the 2005 Carrera GT it was clear that this was going to be a road legal race car. But what I have found that what makes the Carrera GT a racing car was not the fact that its got a huge V10 engine which compliments the lightweight carbon fiber structure of the Porsche but its the shear cost of the this car, it is in excess of £200,000 this is what makes the Carrera GT a race car nothing else but a street legal tarmac eating monster!

When Porsche introduced the Carrera GT in 2004 they had already got plans on making it the Porsche super car of 2005 but they needed to make more user friendly, they had to make the seats adjustable where as before you could not adjust the height on them but not only that they decided to add some more support in to the seats just to give you that little bit extra comfort while driving to work.

The Porsche Carrera GT is so recognizable with its sleek stylish design and being slung on the deck makes it look mean and well you can just start to imagine the handling capabilities of such a sports car, and yet we have not even opened a door or even looked through the tinted windows of it yet. The interior is just as stunning as the exterior. The the low looks of this stunning roadster the Porsche Carrera GT is perfect for that summer driving and because the two panels are removable and can be easily stored out of harms way it means you can enjoy the sunshine and also be ok for when the weather turns. This is really a slick looking roadster.

The Porsche Carrera GT comes with a massive 5.7 litre engine which is producing 605 horsepower from its huge V10 engine, the noise it makes can only be described as sublime it has the purr of a contented cat yet the grunt of an unhappy pensioner. With the chassis being of the monocoque design this gives a lightweight yet strong combination which is continuously reflected throughout the Carrera GT''s build. The Porsche Carrera GT is the first production car to take the ceramic clutch from a racing car and use it on a road legal production car this just goes even more in the favour that this is just a racing car with a number plate!

Porsche have taken their knowledge from the track and developed it into their road cars and the Carrera GT has just that with its aerodynamic and suspension set up for the track this makes the Carrera a very stable and above all safe sports car to drive and at 205mph you want to have that confidence.

Just by taking a look at the Carrera's suspension components you can see that is way more sophisticated than the average sports car and that is because the Porsche designers have made each suspension component aerodynamic and lightweight by using such materials as magnesium. The Carrera's wheels are massive and because of their size Porsche have made them out of magnesium as well just to keep the weight down and not compromise the strength, just by doing this they are making a faster car but not compromising on safety.

The performance of a Porsche Carrera GT can only br drscribed as breathtaking it can go from stand still to 62mph in under 4 seconds and it can carry on till 100mph and get there in under 7 seconds and when we took it out we got a track speed of 205mph

With all this power Porsche have used their racing history and developed a hi tec braking system which most race cars are use to having which its 15 inch ceramic brake disks and the 6 pot callipers it really is unbelievable the speed in which you can stop in. The low centre of gravity and the lightweight engine only weighing in at 217kg the Carrera GT really handles like its on rails. The lightning quick acceleration just seems to compliment the short sharp stopping power of this truly beautiful sports car.

2010 Honda Small Hybrid Preview

Honda is making a bold move to leap ahead in the hybrid models for the coming years. Honda introduced the first Hybrid (the Insight) to the U.S. in 1999 and has offered hybrid models each year, from the Accord to the Civic.
Lately, though, Honda has fallen to second place behind Toyota in production of hybrids. That may change come this fall when the company unveils a new line of hybrid vehicles meant to steal some of the thunder from the Prius.

Honda's key new vehicle in their bid to reclaim notoriety is currently being dubbed "Honda's Small Hybrid," and it will compete directly with the Toyota Prius. Honda has yet to bequeath a name on the new hybrid, but it looks like solid competition. The new small hybrid will be offered in hybrid only and will be available in Europe, Japan, and North America. It will be a five-door, five-passenger vehicle very similar to the Prius but for approximately $2,000 less. There will also be a coupe based on the CR-Z concept shown here.

Honda FC (Fuel Cell) Sport Concept

Honda FC Sport Concept is a hydrogen powered three-seat concept sport car. First revealed at the 2008 Los Angeles Auto Show, the FC Sport emphasize on the flexibility of the Honda's V Flow fuel cell technology which is already available on Honda FCX Clarity sedan. Some modification was made to the design on the Clarity results in a lightweight design with ultra-low center of gravity, complete with excellent motor performance and zero emission.

The aerodynamic body as well as high output from the fuel cell powertrain makes it all possible for the car to deliver excellent performance. The balance weight distribution is due to the vehicle mass distributed between the axles, while the low center of gravity is contributed by the modular approach to fuel cell component packaging and the electric drivetrain.

The FC Sport's clean environmental aspiration is conveyed through the glacier white body color while the dark wheels and tinted glass symbolize the Honda FC's unique combination of clean power and performance. The green construction technique also reduces the carbon footprint while the body construction is based on the organic, bio-structure theme whereby the exterior panel are intended to use plant-derived bio-plastic.

The low profile body looks futuristic. The rear hex forms in the rear houses cooling radiator for the fuel cell which is visible from the rear deck. The high speed aerodynamic of the FC Sport is further enhance with the Formula 1 style barge boards behind the front wheels.

The ideal placement of the Honda V-Flow fuel cell stack and related components demonstrates the benefits of a platform-specific, hydrogen-powered fuel cell powertrain. The FC Sport is configured to accommodate a custom-formed high-power fuel cell stack, located between the rear seats, and a battery pack placed low in the middle of the vehicle. The electric motor resides just forward of the rear axle. Two fuel storage tanks, visible from above, are located above the rear axle. The optimal placement of fuel cell components for performance also allows for a relatively large passenger cabin by conventional supercar standards with enough space for three seating positions. The interior layout focuses primarily on the driver with a racecar-like center driving position. The enclosed canopy opens upward from the rear to allow for entry and exit. Two rear passenger seats flank the driver's left and right side.

BMW X6 xDrive35i and xDrive50i

Thursday, October 1, 2009

Labeled as the "Sport Activity Coupe", BMW launched the 2009 X6 coupe-crossover, resembling to the popular X6 Concept. Comes with all new exterios, new twin turbo V8, the 2009 X6 will be a craze!

BMW is the first to introduce such SUV to the market, though Land Rover have just unveiled it's LRX coupe crossover concept recently. The X6 has very little change compared to the concept except for the design change on the side windows. The B and C pillars are not visible on the concept but are now dividing the glass. Excitingly, the X6's front fender survived the concept and made it to production. The front quarter panel surrounds the entire headlamp, complete with the aggressive front fascia with large air intake and stylish fog lamps.

The new X6 roofline arches downwards after the B pillar and continues to the right down to the X6's rising waistline. Longer and lower compared to the new X6, the X6 only seats four. Lacking in seating and storage, the X6 however, gains in performance. Almost an inch longer in wheelbase and two inches in width compared to X5, the X6 is however 3.3 inches lower in height compared to X5.

The iDrive facility keeps the panel clean and the center stack of the X6 is placed with buttons of the most commonly used control. Very considerate design. The iDrive mutifunction knobs gives access to many functions and are user friendly. The owner of the new X6 will surely be amazed with the navigation system which can be programmed while on the move allowing passenger to key in destination without disrupting the journey. There is a rotary dials for radio volume and HVAC temperature controls. However, the fan speed is using rocker switch.

The interior of the X6 fares well, having a rich look and feels of quality design and meterial. Due to the design on the roofline, the X6's rear cargo and headroom is compromised. The seats can be controlled from the multifunction switches, allowing the front seat occupant to active the one seat massage and setup support according to their taste, providing comfort for journey. The main color of the X6 interior is schwarz and the brushed metal and dark wood finished the cavern.

The X6 xDrive50i comes with a twin turbo 4.4 liter V8 engine, capable of producing 407 horsepower at 5500 rpm and 446 pound-feet of torque between 1750 rpm and 4500 rpm. Capable of sprinting to 62 mph in 5.4 seconds, the fuel consumption of the X6 is estimated at around 19 mpg (U.S. gallons)

The X6 xDrive35i comes with a twin turbo 3.0-liter inline-six from the 335i, capable of producing 306 horsepower.
